home information packs information
Home information
packs are
required for all residential property
sales from December 14th, 2007.
Home
information packs must be ordered, before placing a
property for sale.

It is
recommended that
a 'free' or
'reduced cost'
home information
pack is
not
accepted from any estate agent, as part of an agreement to sign
up.
The purchase of a home
information pack should be a wholly separate purchase, to avoid paying
higher estate agent fees.
A 'free' home
information
pack is
likely to remain the property
of the estate agent and should the home seller
wish to move estate
agent, due to disatisfaction, a new home
information
pack would need to
be re-commissioned at further cost,
providing a
potential barrier / delay in selling.
The Home
Information
Pack Association only recommends buying home
information
packs with the HIP
code logo - this code is
designed to protect the interest of consumers.
