NAEA estate agents are bound by rules of conduct and standards of service.

Only 40% of estate agents are members of the OEA scheme which can award compensation to home buyers or sellers, if it finds they have been badly treated.

Under the Estate Agents Act of 1979 anyone can set up as an estate agent unless they are bankrupt, or have been banned by the OFT.
